Attorney William Buus Obtains Judgment for Client After Jury Trial
William Buus defended a large real estate developer in a case in which the developer was accused of infringing copyrights in certain sculptural works by displaying copies in its commercial and residential complexes. After a jury trial, the Court granted Mr. Buus's motion for judgment as a matter of law, finding that the plaintiff failed to prove damages and, therefore, was not entitled to a monetary award. "I just showed where the plaintiff's presentation of damages fell short, and the Court agreed." The artist appealed the decision.
